TICKELING RIVIERENWIJK - HET VARUCKTE HUIS

With this project we were interested into discovering inherent difficulties within Rivierenwijk and pointing them out through low-budget interventions to raise awareness amongst inhabitants and encouraging them to start shaping their own neighbourhood.

Our overall main impression of Rivierenwijk was that of an area of unseen and unused potentials. Characteristics are distributed like a dust-cloud over the whole district. This dusty distribution may convert qualities into problems: unattractively dispersed public green, lack of social meeting points, dreary residential areas, lack of identity.

Our goal may be visualized by the image of sweeping together grains while at the same time adding specific new functions. Differentiated spots are created, allowing identification, condensation and differentiation.

We examplarily focus on two discrete interventions, both working on an abstract and at the same time very tangible level, picking up specific problems and lifting them to public consciousness.

In collaboration with David Kraler and Bernhard Steinmann.
