REIMAGINING GLURNS

Structural qualities of human settlements and their sustainable recovery.

Working on all levels from urban scale to detailed planning (revitalization of old buildings, implementation of wooden structures). Supervised by Univ.Prof. Mag.arch. Françoise-Hélène Jourda (Jourda Architectes Paris)

The issue at the basis of this thesis is a methodology for a sustainable recovery of human settlements. The challenge was to explore how modern standards can be embraced innovatively while at the same time preserving the unique characteristics of a certain place thus to effectively use our resources of yet existing cities.

I believe that urban structures, ecosystems or social structures may be likened to human organisms/bodies. The analysis of such structures should not be limited to the description of separate elements but rather decode the internal relations and syndetic dependencies. My ideal conception of an approach may be compared to acupuncture, activating neuralgic spots while considerately and effectively harmonising the system as a whole.
