VENUS EXPO216

STUDENTS AWARD

Curvaceous, soft, flowing – the room aims to translate the language of the female body into that of architecture and embody a certain sensuality and eroticism, repeatedly drawing on the Venus theme.

Walking through the room, the visitor discovers the space from new angles and perspectives, while the arrangement of the different layers creates both intriguing interactions between the interior and exterior aspects as well as inspirational lighting effects.

Twenty-seven layers were attached to a central base plate at differing angles, with soft stubble-like pimples filling the gaps between each layer to offer an even more pleasurable experience when entering the room by creating a gentle cushioning under foot. The radial offsetting of the layers dynamises both interior and exterior elements of the room and enables its soft, female forms to flow into each other more smoothly.

The layers are installed one by one, turning the exhibition room itself into mobile architecture.

Specially created boards hanging between the different levels act as exhibition surfaces. These can be easily rearranged for new exhibitions, thereby contributing to the mobility of the project as a whole.
